RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND INTERESTS

So you want to know about my research experience and interests. Depending on how much time you have, you want a sentence or a paragraph. Well, you’ve found both!

In One Sentence

I want to discover the best possible ways in which computers can help people learn.

In One Paragraph

My training in experimental cognitive psychology has provided me with an understanding of learning and of the evaluation of learning. My training in human-computer interaction has provided me with an understanding of ways in which the instructional medium can obscure its content – and ways to evaluate and resolve such problems. Finally, my work in intelligent tutoring systems has provided me with experience in cognitive task analyses, instructional content authoring, and advanced statistical and measurement methodologies. I will draw on my experience in these three domains as I work to discover the best possible ways in which computers manage feedback during training and practice, and the best ways to measure and assess the results of training.
